- In 1970, a 9-12 High School with with 899 students was assigned Class “C” status. The 1970 MCC 9-12 High School enrollment was 900 students making the school Class “B”.
- All three Head Coaches for the 1970 MCC Football class were admitted into the Michigan High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame. Freshman Coach Ray Cioe in 1993 (posthumously), JV Coach Larry Sellers in 1994 and Varsity Coach Waldo Keating in 1986.
- After leaving MCC, Waldo Keating (1973) and Larry Sellers (1974) won back to back State Championships and Coach of the Year honors as head coach at Traverse City St. Francis.
- After the Muskegon game loss, Coach Waldo Keating tried to schedule a 10th Game/Scrimmage with Grand Rapids Northview, the team that won the AP Class B State Championship in 1970, to prove the 1970 MCC Football team was better . Northview refused. The following football season, Keatings’ first at Traverse City St. Francis, he scheduled Class B Northview to play Class C TC St. Francis in both the 1972 and 1973 Football seasons. Keating beat Northview both years. The second year win was en route to both the Class C State Championship and Coach of the Year honors to cap his final year as a Head Coach…and with Larry Sellers (1968 MCC JV Head Coach) as his Asst. Coach. Payback for the 1970 MCC Team?
- Muskegon Catholic Central (MCC) was founded in 1953, the birth year of an 18 year old from the graduating class of 1971
- The MCC Cross Country Team also won the LMAC Championship in 1970.
- Despite being in the right place at the right time most of the 1970 season, the loss in the last game to Muskegon High School was on Friday the 13th.
- The 1967 Freshman Football Team had a very similar season to the Senior season…they lost the first 2 games, went on a 5 game winning streak and lost the last game of the season.
- The first game 6-0 loss to Grand Rapids Catholic Central (GRCC) was a sign of things to come for the 1970 MCC Football squad and deja vu for Coach Waldo Keating. The 1959 MCC Football team lost the state championship to GRCC 6-0 on November 13, 1959…the same day and date 11 years later that the 1970 MCC Football team lost the State Championship by losing to Muskegon High School on November 13, 1970. 1970 Head Coach Keating was an assistant coach for the 1959 MCC team.
